Gregorian Chant Repository

The Caecilia Project

A community-driven library of sacred music in the Roman Catholic tradition — Gregorian chant and sacred choral music, typeset in open formats and free for anyone to sing.

Saint Cecilia, in a red dress, plays a small pipe organ while a curly-haired angel holds the music for her.

Orazio Gentileschi and Giovanni Lanfranco, Saint Cecilia and an Angel, c. 1617–1627. National Gallery of Art, Washington (open access).

About the project

Sacred music, freely given

The Caecilia Project was founded with a simple goal: a community-driven repository of sacred music in the Roman Catholic tradition, for ease of public use.

The library

A repository of sacred music in the Roman Catholic tradition: from the official Gregorian chant of the Liturgy to sacred choral music — “sacred” in the strict sense in which the Church understands it.

Open formats

Every work is kept in a format that can be edited, corrected and compiled, not only as a finished PDF: Gregorian chant in Gregorio (GABC), modern notation in LilyPond.

Free to use

Anyone who wants to sing this music shall have it. You are welcome to browse and download the files and use them, free of cost.
